Overmapping
Overmapping is an interactive performance for spaces under construction.
The audience is called to explore a place that is still hypothetic, an empty space to be written and to be filled, a location still virgin from any event.
Each spectator is given a stopwatch and an adhesive picture of himself taken on the spot.
The audience can access the location only blindfolded and explores the place through touching, hearing and smelling in order to choose a place to stick his picture.
After 10 minutes the personal stopwatch ring and the spectator is taken outside to recover the memory of pathways, sensations and any
collected clue on the dark exploration.
Then each spectator draws on a transparent film his own version of the space, trying to map the architecture of the explored
location and to indicate the spot where his picture is hung.
All the maps are overlapped in a live video projection where the individual perceptions create a virtual architecture
filtered by the actions, the choices and the interpretation of each one.
At the end of the performance the site is open and everyone can visit the location and the spreaded pictures of the audience:
a cemeterial and criminal landscape that becomes certificate of what happened.
